Introduction

Pushup Bro — a pushup RPG: do real pushups to grow your monkey island, go on treks and quests, and compete with friends on today's leaderboard.

This Privacy Policy explains what data Pushup Bro handles and why. In short: there are no ads and no tracking, the camera is processed on your device, and only what the leaderboard, friends and (for Pro members who choose it) cloud saves need is stored online.

Information We Collect

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising or tracking. Pushup Bro does not use analytics or advertising tools. You never have to enter your real name, and an email address is only received if you choose to connect Sign in with Apple or Google.

Your Anonymous Account

On first launch, Pushup Bro creates an anonymous account in the background, without a login screen. It gives you a random user ID, a generated bro name (such as "Banana Bro 4821") and a friend code. These are used so the leaderboard and friends can work.

Leaderboard and Friends

When you finish a set, today's pushup count is saved online together with your bro name, your monkey's look and the time of the update, so it can appear on today's leaderboard. On the "Everyone" leaderboard others only see your bro name, your monkey and your count; you can hide yourself from it in Settings.

If you add friends with your friend code or QR code, we store your friend list, people you blocked, and friendly messages (waves, bananas and nudges) sent between friends. Friends can see your bro name, monkey, island, streak, today's count and, if you set one, your "Name for friends". Your public profile (bro name, code, look, island, streak, total pushups and island level) is visible to other signed-in players who have your code or see you on the leaderboard.

Saving Your Progress (Pro)

Pushup Bro Pro members can connect their account with Sign in with Apple or Google to back up their progress and restore it on another iPhone. Only then is a backup of your game state stored online: your pushup history, bananas, streak, quests, treks, wardrobe and look, inventory, onboarding answers and body data such as height and weight. Device settings like volume, tracking mode and reminder times are not backed up.

When you connect, Apple or Google tells us your account identifier and, if you allow it, your email address. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive the relay address.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your progress, pushup history, settings and onboarding answers are stored on your device. Without a connected Pro account they stay on your device only. Home screen and lock screen widgets read a summary of this data from storage shared between the app and its widgets on the same device.

Camera and Motion

The camera pushup counter uses Apple's Vision framework to find your body pose in the camera image. This happens entirely on your device. Camera images and video are never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. If you count pushups with AirPods, their head motion data is also processed on your device only.

Notifications

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No push notification service or device token is used.

Third-Party Services

Google Firebase provides the anonymous account, Sign in with Apple and Google, the online database (Cloud Firestore, stored in the United States) for the leaderboard, friends and Pro backups, and App Check, which checks that requests come from the real app on a genuine Apple device. Please see Google's privacy policy and the Firebase privacy information for details.

RevenueCat manages in-app purchases (Pushup Bro Pro). RevenueCat receives an app user ID and your purchase history in order to process and restore purchases. When you connect an account, this ID is your Pushup Bro user ID so Pro follows your account. Please see RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.

Purchases themselves are processed by Apple, and Sign in with Apple is provided by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. If you send feedback, it goes through your own email app and we only receive what you choose to send.

Consent to Share Consumption Data with Apple

By using our app and making in-app purchases, you consent to our sharing of data regarding your usage and consumption of purchased content with Apple, as part of our efforts to resolve refund requests. This information may include details about how you have accessed and interacted with the purchased content. The purpose of sharing this data is to help Apple make an informed decision regarding refund requests. We ensure that such data sharing is done in compliance with Apple's policies and only as necessary to process your requests.

Keeping and Deleting Your Data

Your online data is kept as long as your account exists. Daily leaderboard entries only matter for the day they belong to.

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your profile, friend code, friend list, messages, today's leaderboard entries, your cloud backup and your account itself, and disconnects Sign in with Apple and Google. Progress on your device stays until you delete the app. You can also ask us to delete your data by email.

Children

Pushup Bro is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Players are never asked for their real name, and only generated bro names are shown publicly.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be communicated through the app or on this website, and the updated date will be displayed at the top of the policy.
